Brian and Norm in Italy, May 2002

One final shot of the streets of Rome (out our window at the Scott House), then off.

(We had a heck of a flight out. The Air France/Alitalia flight was late into Paris, and at first we were told "you won't make your flight to the U.S.; you'll need to stay in Paris overnight" -- which sounded fine to us. Then we got out, got into line for our trip adjustments, and were told "Run! Run! You might catch your plane!" As it turns out, we caught it but our luggage didn't, and we realized even while boarding the plane that we would have rather taken the night in Paris. Argh. Mistakes were made, lessons were learned ... next time, I think twice before running for something I may not want to catch!)

This was a great trip -- Italy is beautiful, Brian's friends are fun people, and Brian and I not only got along but also managed to grow a bit together. I'm looking forward to going to Italy again, this time for more than a week. But this was also my first trip overseas in ten years (things just halted when med school started) and I'm re-catching the travel bug -- I want to see LOTS of places! Brian is used to traveling regularly, so we're planning out what to do next. For our next major trip we're talking about Germany at the end of September. There will be a lot of family-visiting on my side, some beer drinking at Oktoberfest, and possibly a stop in Paris. We'll send a note!

Thanks for reading.
